From Boudoir to Bungalow, Lindsay’s photography career didn’t start out in architecture. As a matter of fact, things didn’t even start out in photography. Until college, Lindsay’s life revolved around a more agile, harmonized career… synchronized ice skating. Although she always had a camera in her hand growing up, it wasn’t until after she was recruited to skate at Miami University of Ohio and spent her first year on the team, that she tucked the skates away and realized her true passion.
And we couldn’t be more thankful that she did. Welcome to A Day in the Life of VHT Studios’ photographer Lindsay, where we take you through her day-to-day challenges and successes, talk about her relationships with clients and catch her in her element.
As one of our Chicago photographers, it only makes sense that her day starts out with looking for parking. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the unpredictable weather we have? Fortunately, preparing for a shoot comes naturally for Lindsay, who has her routine down pat. “When I enter a property, I turn on all the lights and start removing any unnecessary clutter and do the shoot. I’ll clean up a place a bit, but I can’t work magic to make it disappear. I leave that up to our amazing editors who absolutely can virtually declutter and stage any room.”
Things don’t always go exactly as planned when shooting real estate. Lindsay’s flexibility and ease to adapting to new situations makes her even better when getting the job done. She works with whatever is thrown her way and always makes sure her clients don’t feel rushed, get the best from the shoot, and have fun while doing it.
Dennis Huyck, of @properties, has had nothing but positive experiences with Lindsay. “Lindsay takes every single photography session extremely seriously and really takes her time to make sure we get the best possible shots every time. She is also very good with clients when they grace us with their presence! Clients can be very critical of photographs, so to have someone like Lindsay who understands that and has patience makes all the difference.”
Building relationships with your clients don’t come with a manual because all clients’ needs are different. Shannon Slabada of Coldwell Banker loves the open communication she has with Lindsay. “I scheduled my first appointment with VHT Studios three years ago and Lindsay was the photographer. She did such a beautiful job that I have requested her ever since. I love that I can text Lindsay with a tentative photoshoot and she pencils me in. I love the consistency, and she’s always punctual.”
Lindsay always makes sure to keep in contact with her clients to continue fostering those relationships. “Some agents like to be very involved with the shoot. They like the way I work and how my photography looks, so they feel comfortable with me. I want to help them tell the story they envision.”
We often only focus on the beauty and composition of the photographs, but rarely do we visualize the beauty of the relationships that many of our photographers have with their clients. Our photographers exceed our clients expectations time after time, and we couldn’t be prouder. A day in the life of Lindsay is full of new experiences, new relationships, and is anything but predictable.
