Divine Dining Rooms

by bschwartzJune 8, 2012no comment

With great conversation and delicious food, mealtimes with family and friends in the dining room should be a memorable experience. Add an unexpected design twist and every meal is that much more special. The following photos show how you can freshen up your dining room with interesting seating, a statement piece, a new ceiling, books and more. Of course, decor always looks better in a great photograph!

1. Double Up

Coordinating — but not matching — host and hostess chairs give the room added interest. Photo by VHT.

2. Statement Piece

If you don’t have a great view to dine by, try a statement piece to grab attention. Allow your room to be the backdrop for an oversize, unique light fixture or other flashy decor. Photo by VHT.

3. All Eyes Up

Transform your dining room ceiling into a work of painted and textured art. Photo by VHT.

4. Give the Red Carpet Treatment

This oversize red Persian rug makes quite a statement. Design your entire dining room in a monochromatic palette and make the focal point the area rug. Photo by VHT.

5. Mirror Magic

Place an oversize freestanding or wall-mounted mirror on the focal wall of your dining room for maximum effect. This is especially great for a small dining room, as the room will instantly double in size. Photo by VHT.

6. Dining with the Authors

This dining space doubles as a library and a dining room. What a novel (pun intended) idea for those who love to be surrounded by books. Photo by VHT.

7. On the Bench

Forgo the traditional matching dining room chairs and opt for a bench on one side of the table. It’s a great way to make your own statement and much cozier for entertaining. Photo by VHT.
