Title:
Duplication / Image Specialist
How long have you been working for VHT?
8 years
Describe a typical day at VHT…
When the duplication product was still offered, it involved wearing a lot of hats. I would split my time between optimizing the photography and doing the duplication procedure which involved designing the labels / creating the data to be burned / shipping said products to clientele. Sometimes, I even get the opportunity to help the marketing department with my ultimate passion, graphic design!
What is your favorite part of working at VHT?
I work with some pretty awesome people here. It’s nice to work in an environment with so many friendly faces and personalities that work very well together. Outside of that, I thoroughly enjoy knowing that the clients are happy with the outcome of the their imagery after we have optimized them for their viewing / marketing pleasure.
What do you do when you’re not at VHT?
I’m an artist at heart, it’s my first love and I’ve known I would do it for the rest of my life (one way or another) since I was in second grade. So if it has anything to do with the arts (drawing, painting, sketching, sculpture, digital arts, etc) I’m usually doing that. I also work as a freelance graphic designer so I tend to be working on projects (Editor’s Note: check out Lina’s Website and Facebook page!). I sincerely believe that you will never work a day in your life if you love what you do. I can honestly say, though I’m always doing something, it’s never feels like ‘work’ it just feels like I’m doing something I actually enjoy.
People might be surprised to know that…
I fell into photo retouching by pure accident. I was in college learning about animation and yet not fully satisfied. Though I loved (still do) watching animation, I could not feel passionate about creating it. I was trying to figure out how I could make this all work for me. The irony of it all? I was actually at the computer developing a composition of several image manipulations of retouched photos I had done just because I enjoyed doing it as I was thinking this and the epiphany came to me.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
(laughing) Honestly? I almost don’t want to say… Okay on a bet as a preteen, a friend of mine dared me to eat chocolate covered ants. I nearly lost my cookies. It was the weirdest, grossest thing ever!
What’s your favorite meal?
Hmmm, that one is hard to say really. My favorite healthy meal is a very simple salad. All it has is spinach leaves, either chicken or boiled eggs, black olives, some carrots and some ranch on top. However my favorite non-healthy food is pizza for sure. However since I have changed my lifestyle I’m always in search of finding healthier versions to my favorite meals. I refuse to give up flavor just for lifestyle changes.
If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
My super power would be to always have exact change. Never more, never less. This way if I need to buy a house or feed someone who hadn’t eaten, I could do so without question.
When you were 6 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
(laughs) My mom would say I was always too smart for my own good. Even as a child I knew I wanted to create art. But even at such a tender age I knew others paying me for my ‘pictures’ may be slim. My backup plan was to be a veterinarian since I have loved to help others and especially have a love of animals.
If you were a cupcake, what flavor would you be?
I would be a rose petal cupcake with a cream cheese frosting, topped with some pistachios.
What was your favorite toy as a child?
I definitely loved my barbies but my ultimate fun was just my pure imagination. Going out to explore and learn and just let my imagination run wild.
If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
My ultimate goal is to eventually use my skills/talent to help make the world a better place. I don’t strive for world peace, but if I can change the lives of at least 20 families of 4 before I pass, then I would not have lived in vain.
Thanks for sharing Lina!
