December is generally the time of year when both our team and our clients slow down and start to make plans for the coming year. During this time it is important to stay top of mind with your clients. In the spirit of the Christmas carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas, here are our 12 ways to stay in front of your clients during the holidays. If done well these communications can retain and solidify your business relationships going into the new year.
- Send out a holiday card with a giveaway or promotion. A giveaway can be a useful tool to engage with clients when you’re not directly working with them. And it’s always fun to get creative and in the holiday spirit. You’d be surprised how many clients will keep this type of communication around even after the holiday season.
- Highlight a client daily in the style of an advent calendar. This is a great way to show your appreciation for your most dedicated customers and show how engaged and knowledgeable you are when it comes to what makes them special.
- Give your preferred clients holiday gift baskets. It may be one of the oldest tricks in the book, but it is a great way for you to let your clients know you’re thinking of them all year long. Pro tip: use local vendors to build your basket to show your support for local businesses and your community.
- Run/organize a holiday decorating contest. Ask your clients to send in photos of their exterior holiday décor. Photos like this have a dual purpose; it will garner interaction with your clients and can be great content to use on social media (see festive way #12).
- Host Santa at your office. You can rent space if you don’t have it and invite your clients and their family to take photos with Santa! This is a wonderful way to show your clients you care about them and their family’s holiday experience. It’s also a low pressure event that can easily be something put on every year.
- Create a local holiday event guide. It is important to highlight your local presence and support of your community. A holiday event guide is a great way to do this! Events aren’t always easy to find, so this could be a life savor for clients with children around the holidays.
- Organize a charity event. This is a wonderful way to not only partner with a charity of your choosing, but also strengthen your relationship with participating clients. It creates a shared goal of providing something to people in need during the holidays. This is something that could be done electronically, or a donation box could be set out at your office.
- Cross promote with a local business. Partner with your favorite local business and create coupons that can be given out to your client base. The ability to leverage a relationship with a local business is mutually beneficial. You get to refer your clientele to that local business and hopefully they will do the same for you.
- Give your logo a holiday theme. Adding a splash of holiday cheer to your branding is a fun way to show your holiday spirit! You can also do this for other traditional holidays.
- Create a year in review book or newsletter. This compilation of your accomplishments could be left at preferred clients offices or sent as an email. This is a great way to show current and future clients how dedicated you are and keep your name top of mind.
- Deliver holiday treats. Order branded treats from a local shop and leave them with the front desk. It’s a great way to keep people thinking about you and your company while providing a yummy treat during the holiday season.
- Post a holiday related message or video on your social media. This is a great tool for not only your presence on social, but also to give a personal touch to it. Studies show that personal related posts get more engagement than those that are strictly business related.
We hope you find these 12 festive ways to stay top of mind with your clients useful this holiday season. Happy Holidays from all of us at VHT Studios!
