A few weeks ago I posted about the misconception that having a million dollar listing means you don’t have to worry about home presentation. Homes, especially luxury homes, do not sell themselves. Once again, I ask why homeowners, the majority of whom are selling their largest asset, allow their listing agent to use such ordinary, or just plain bad photos, to present their beautiful home to the marketplace. If you’ve got a great view, a stunning pool, a state-of-the-art kitchen, or a walk-in closet that most people could only dream of, show it off! But show it off in a way that captures attention and properly highlights what makes the property worth a million dollars.
Here are four more listing photos that are more lackluster than luxury.
The biggest problem I have with this photo is the lighting. When trying to capture the best photograph of any room in your house, artificial and natural light should work together, not against each other. And is it just me, or are there more than the normal amount of lights hanging from that ceiling?
Sure, I’m getting a little nit-picky here, but all the vehicles in the driveway instantly lower the quality of this photo and this home. I don’t care if you have a BMW or a Mercedes, unless it comes with the house, kindly ask the owner to remove the cars for the shot. At least this is a quick fix. I’m not asking you to move mountains, people.
If the main selling point of your property is it’s waterfront location, call me crazy, but a picture of the waterfront might be good. At least I think they were trying to show off the water view here. Trust, there’s a much better way to do that than showing a closed slider window with a dark view of water in the background.
The front door works, I guess. What was this photo supposed to be of? How agents continually manage to land million dollar listings with pictures like these in their repertoire is beyond me.
