One of my best friends recently bought her first family home with her husband and son. The first thing she said to me when I came over for the grand tour was “I didn’t put up any of the stupid quotes”. Not long ago you couldn’t walk into a room without seeing a quote citing something about living, laughing, and loving. There is absolutely nothing wrong with stenciling a verse, lyric, or saying that means something to you, but it can quickly border on tacky, non?
Here are some examples of real estate listing photos that get my point across perfectly.
“Live. Love. Laugh.”
100 times more offensive because of the color scheme and design.
“Love by the sun. Love my the moon.”
Just a hunch, but based on the fact that this person essentially has two beds, “Sleep by the sun, Sleep more by the moon,” might be more accurate.
“Family: A Journey to Forever”
You know, about half of these quotes are going to end up getting divorced.
“Make each day your masterpiece.”
C’mon, that’s hard to live up to. Something more realistic might be “Today is another day to watch TV”.
“I don’t call you son because you shine. I call you son because you are mine.”
No, there is absolutely no chance this kid still lives at home when he’s 35. Oh wait, yes there is.
“Keep Calm and Carry On”
You didn’t think I’d forget about the wall quote to top all wall quotes, did you? While I initially liked this and where it came from, this has got to go. And in the bathroom? Really?
