I have been noticing a lot of real estate listing photos lately that were taken with a fish eye camera lens. A fish eye lens does not make a room or home look any bigger, better, or more marketable. In fact, a listing photo with the fish eye effect basically says, “here’s the view of your new apartment as seen by a peeping tom looking through the door viewer.” Gross.
Fish eye seems to be one of the tactics most commonly used by real estate agents to fit an entire room into one picture. The fish eye look distorts a room, making it seem larger than it is. Sounds great, right? Wrong. It makes for a horrendous picture! Just look at these examples.
